The courtyard at No. 6 Kuijiachang Lane (former No. 6), venue of this commemoration, was Edgar Snow’s residence in Beiping from 1935 to 1937 and the very place where he finished writing Red Star Over China (Chinese title: Journey to the West). After completing field interviews in the northern Shaanxi Soviet Area in 1936, Snow returned here to organize tens of thousands of characters of firsthand interview notes and authored the first documentary work that objectively and authentically introduced the CPC and the Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army to Western audiences. The book completely reversed the one-sided perceptions of Red China in overseas public opinion back then, evolving into an iconic spiritual symbol of China-US people-to-people friendship.

时值美国独立250周年重要时间节点,主办方还特别设计发行了主题纪念邮简。邮简融合中美友谊和美国建国纪念的主题,将民间搭建对话桥梁促进中美友谊的历史贡献具象化。
